Science L.E.A.F Partners With The State of Maryland To Improve Adult Digital Literacy
[Press Release: 6/12/2024] – The University of Maryland and State of Maryland selected Science L.E.A.F as the prime vendor to support current efforts already underway to strengthen accessibility to high quality, digital literacy content for Maryland residents. This digital literacy content is provided through a free, statewide program called Marylanders Online, which is part of the University of Maryland Extension (UME) in partnership with the College of Information Studies (INFO). The purpose of Marylanders Online is simple: (1) promote digital literacy, and (2) improve equity and inclusion. Aligning to the mission of Science L.E.A.F as a talented learning solutions provider, experts from our learning solutions and analytics divisions are excited to push the limits on innovation and creativity to strengthen the effectiveness and purpose of this program.
Improving Educational Equity Through Public Health Programs
A key driver for the formation of The Marylanders Online program is to increase the accessibility of resources and tools for a variety of digital content to thousands of Maryland residents. Public health comes into play as it is known that many Maryland residents lack access to key digital elements like the internet and digital devices (i.e. phones, tablets, etc.). Yet, they live in a society where technology is advancing daily. To help bridge this divide, The Marylanders Online program serves as a gateway to provide quality resources, tools, education, and support directly to the Marylander resident. From a help hotline to tutorials and guided trainings, by the time a Maryland resident accesses and uses the resources provided through the Marylanders Program that person will walk away equipped with the skills necessary to navigate a technology driven world and be an informed decision maker.
A Collaboration Built To Deliver Effective Results
The partnership between Science L.E.A.F and the University of Maryland reveals a unique, powerful strength in higher education. Through this collaborative effort, results will show that equity in education is not just a tag line. Equity in education is the opportunity to level up innovative thinking, that in turn, ultimately drives effective change – impacting a generation of people.
